SUMMER ’24 EDITION Shopify: Key Platform Updates

Shopify introduces over 150 updates designed to create a faster, more resilient, and integrated platform for merchants.

Some of the main new features include the evolution of Shopify Markets, new AI tools for media editing and product creation, as well as improvements in point of sale (POS) and unified analytics. These updates aim to simplify international commerce, optimize the user experience, and facilitate sales, both online and in physical stores.

In this blog, we'll discuss the topic further!

Key updates and new features

Expansion into new markets

"Shopify Markets" has evolved into a centralized command center that allows customizing shopping experiences for international sales, B2B, and in-store sales. Previously, these functions were scattered across the platform, but now they are unified for more efficient management.

AI for commerce

  • AI media editor: Since the introduction of AI image generation, the tool is now integrated into various parts of the admin, including the Online Store Editor and Email Editor, as well as the mobile app.
  • AI product creation: The "Magic" feature automatically suggests custom attributes for new products, such as color, size, and style, minimizing listing errors.
  • AI-suggested replies: For stores using Shopify Inbox, AI-generated replies are suggested for customer chats, based on store information.
  • Sidekick: An AI commerce assistant that helps in decision-making and using Shopify functionalities, understanding specific products, orders, and customers.

Split shipping at Checkout

You can now give customers more clarity and choice at checkout by showing them when an order will be split into multiple shipments. They can choose the lowest price, fastest delivery, or custom shipping options.

Simplified in-store selling

New point-of-sale (POS) features include offering digital receipts with a tap for Shop Pay users and automatic detection of returnable products, providing smoother transactions.

Unified analytics

Analytics have been rebuilt to provide faster, more intuitive, and real-time data. This allows new ways to view and explore data, facilitating strategic decisions based on updated information.

These updates aim to improve the user experience, simplify operations, and expand sales opportunities for merchants.
